A primary backer of the event, UPenn’s Wolf Humanities Center, characterizes itself as “Penn’s gateway to the humanities, where the public and academy celebrate their common stake in thinking the arts….” Yet, they host the following inflammatory figures:
Marc Lamont Hill, “a former associate of Louis Farrakhan who has accused Israeli police of training American officers to kill Black people….”
Roger Waters, who has used his platform as a famous musician and previous Pink Floyd member to equate Israel and Nazi Germany, criticized “Jewish power, among other misleading diatribes.
Refaat Alareer, a professor at the Islamic University of Gaza, “who said in 2018, ‘Are most Jews evil? Of course they are.’”
Salman Abu Sitta, who has openly spewed that “Jews were hated in Europe because they played a role in the destruction of the economy in some of the countries, so they would hate them…” in an interview.
Susan Abulhawa, the event’s organizer, who has “…accused Israel of committing ‘a dozen kristallnachts [sic],’ referring to the infamous pogrom carried out against Jews in Nazi Germany in November 1938.”
